A Note From The Founder
Foodie Goes Travel began as a quieter way of understanding place - through food culture, thoughtful hospitality, architecture, landscape and the slower rhythms that often go unnoticed between destinations.
Rather than chasing itineraries or checklists, the journal explores the atmosphere and emotional texture of a place: the light in an Umbrian alleyway, the calmness of a long lunch, the philosophy behind a thoughtfully designed hotel, or the rituals surrounding food, gathering and hospitality.
Based between Italy and Malaysia, the journal moves between hill towns, cities, countryside retreats and contemporary hospitality spaces across Europe and Asia - often drawn to places shaped by strong identity, cultural memory and a deep sense of place.
Many of the stories explored through the journal are shaped by conversations with chefs, artisans, hoteliers, winemakers, founders and local residents whose philosophies quietly influence the character of a destination.
My professional background is in retail, placemaking and brand development across Asia and Europe. Perhaps because of this, I am often as interested in understanding how places are shaped as I am in visiting them - whether through the people behind a family-run gelateria, the restoration of a historic building, the design of a hotel, or the traditions that continue to define everyday life.
Over time, the journal will gradually evolve into curated stays, immersive journeys, and collaborations centred around food culture, craftsmanship, design and deeply personal hospitality experiences.
Foodie Goes Travel is a personal journal by Jia Jin Wong. Through essays, interviews and observations from life between Italy and Asia, it explores slower, more thoughtful and more meaningful ways of experiencing the world.
